Design and development of a home page

Customer

UWV (Uitvoeringsinstituut WerknemersVerzekeringen) is established in 2002. By order of the Ministry of Social Affairs they  provide various employees insurances. Besides UWV stimulates people to continue or to start to work.

Realization

2006

Situation

After completing two successful projects, UWV again asks Proteon Development for a new order. This time they need an application to offer in a simple and structured way a large amount of fragmented information about reintegration to their employees. Starting-point for design is the huge amount of data, a model and a proposal for navigation structure.

Objective

The relevant information about reintegration has to be organized and made accessible. The target group of this homepage are about 4000 employees of UWV who regularly visit the site.

Result

Proteon has automatically inserted the content of documents into the OpenCMS based system. Besides Proteon developed a graphic and interaction design, resulting in a attractive and understandable model. This model is shown at the homepage.
Finally we developed a search engine, using Lucene technology to search through all pdf, Word and Excel documents. This is resulting in an application hosted by Proteon Vital Internet Services (Tomcat hosting and OpenCMS hosting), while UWV itself manages the application as part of the own secured intranet.

Conclusion

Proteon was able to complete this project in a short period due to their high experience of managing large amounts of information with suitable solutions in OpenCMS systems.

Reactions of the customer

"Without exception, everyone reacts really positive about the homepage, there was a large demand for this information. The homepage is very useful and a necessary product for all employees of UWV."

"Both the employees and the management is very enthusiastic about the home page and they are talking about expansion of the site."
