Hiphop in ya Face
DPDK rebuild the website 'Hiphop in je Smoel' (HIJS) in 2011 using Drupal 6. When the website was deployed to the production server at their previous hosting company, it turned out there were lot's of problems getting the Drupal-site to perform well. That's why DPDK turned to Proteon with the question if we could setup a hosting infrastructure to make the website run. Proteon moved the website to its private cloud and helped DPDK optimize the source code.
The HIJS website has over 7000 registered users with a database of over 80000 node revisions and welcomes over 8000 unique visitors each day.
The first step to make the website perform was to convert the Drupal 6 website to a Pressflow Drupal. After that Proteon added APC for PHP op-code caching and Varnish for content caching. The complete infrastructure has been deployed using Puppet so that the system can easily be re-deployed and or migrated through out Proteon's private cloud.
