Kluwer is a publishing company with about 1300 employees. They are leading in juridical, fiscal, financial, administrative, HRM and management publication in The Netherlands. Kluwer is part of the international concern Wolters Kluwer.

Objective

Outsourcing of the hosting and management of Kluwer's Knowledge Portals to Proteon.

Result

Proteon designed and realized a redundant infrastructure for the Knowledge Portal application. An automatic load balancing / fail over mechanism has been implemeted to ensure availability of the application. The availability is measured and guaranteed in an SLA. Also the Kluwer's service desk is supported by Proteon as a 2nd line support.

The hosting and management of the Knowledge Portal applications is based on the technologies of Sun Solaris and of J2EE application servers Bea Weblogic and Bea Portal Server.

Conclusion

Kluwer was able to outsource the hosting and management of their Knowledge Portals via a contract and a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with clear agreements. In the meantime the availability and performance of the Knowledge Portals has been drastically improved.
